Richa Rai

2026 Mementos Concerto Festival

Joseph Haydn - Cello Concerto No.1 in C major, Hob.VIIb:1, I. Moderato

Richa Rai is a dedicated high school cellist from Plano, Texas, with a strong commitment to musical growth. She began her musical journey on the piano before discovering the cello in elementary school, an instrument that quickly became her primary focus. Now, she has played the cello for nine years and currently performs with the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra, where she participates in weekly rehearsals and is a member of the cello section, performing three concerts annually. Through her orchestral experience, she has strengthened her technical skills, musical interpretation, and ability to work closely with fellow musicians. She has also been a member of ensembles such as the Young Performers Orchestra, Dallas String Ensemble, and Sinfonietta. Richa studies cello under the guidance of Dr. Kaye Yu-Ho Chang Chilton, whose mentorship has played a significant role in shaping her technique and musical maturity. She is passionate about music and is eager to continue growing as a cellist.
