Yee Ning Yap, 17, is a junior at Allen High School in Allen, Texas. She began playing the cello in sixth grade and has since studied with Dr. Kaye Yu-Ho Chang-Chilton. In addition to serving as principal cellist in her school’s symphony and chamber orchestras, Yee Ning has been selected for many TMEA ensembles, serving as a member of the TMEA Region 25 Symphony Orchestra and TMEA All-State Orchestras for the past three years. She has also had the honor of performing in New York’s renowned Weill Recital Hall. Yee Ning is honored to be performing in the Mementos Concerto Festival and looks forward to growing as a musician. Besides playing the cello, she regularly volunteers her time for her community’s various fine arts events and environmental causes. In her free time, she enjoys reading, arts and crafts, and spending time outdoors.
